BLUE

The series Blue and Blue Part II takes the viewer to the Wadden Sea region, a landscape in constant motion. It transforms before your eyes, shaped by the shifting light, the wind’s force, and the rhythm of the tides. It is a world where dunes walk, vanish, and reappear and where the sea endlessly comes and goes.

In the series Blue, I seek to express this natural process of change through the varying shades of blue that emerge in the landscape, shaped by the ever-changing light.

Although these photographs capture the beauty of time’s eternal flow rather than the threats to this landscape, one question remains unavoidable: how long?

The title Blue carries a double meaning. Is blue simply the dominant color of the landscape, or is there something more?

The word “blue” also evokes a feeling, one that is less uplifting than the color itself suggests. Is this emotion justified? Should we feel a sense of loss when thinking about the future of this landscape?

Some photographs in Blue Part II explore this ambiguity, beauty intertwined with military exercises and the growing pressure of recreation.
