Panorama Pinhole
This panorama captures the white village of Cómpeta in Andalusia, Southern Spain. I began creating several pinhole photographs about half an hour before sunset, moving around and placing the camera a meter further with each shot. The photographs overlapped slightly, creating a seamless blend when combined.
I continued photographing until the sky darkened, eventually mounting the images in Photoshop to form a cohesive whole.
The resulting image features a gradual transition from light to dark, illustrating the changing light of the setting sun. As a 180-degree panorama, it shows the left side still bathed in sunlight, while the right side reveals the sun disappearing behind the mountains.
In this work, my goal was to visually express the passage of time in a single frame. Due to the long exposure times, no people are directly visible. However, the traces they’ve left behind provide a subtle but powerful impression of their presence, allowing the viewer to feel the fleeting nature of the moment.
This work can be seen behind the counter of the eye clinic at UMCG Groningen, as it was purchased by the hospital.
