Dark Sky Park
These images were created in 2019, marking 50 years since the Lauwersmeer, an inland sea in the north of the Netherlands, was closed off and transformed into a lake. A group of northern Dutch photographers shared their perspectives on this beautiful Nature Reserve, and I took on the challenge because the area connects to the Wadden Sea, where I often photograph. What drew me to this spot was its designation as an official Dark Sky Park in 2016, a place dedicated to preserving darkness. Most of the images were captured at dusk, and the last one was taken during an entire night’s exposure, revealing the path the moon traces across the sky.
